Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing the right flooring system can raise a lot of questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions homeowners and businesses ask about epoxy flooring, polished concrete, and decorative coating systems installed by Sunset Coatings.
How long does a typical epoxy flooring installation take?
Most of our flooring installations are completed in 2–4 days, depending on the system and condition of the concrete. Flake epoxy floors typically take about 2 days, while metallic epoxy systems usually take 3–4 days. Proper surface preparation, including grinding and concrete repairs, is always done to ensure a strong bond and long-lasting results.
How durable are your metallic epoxy floors for garages and homes?
Our metallic epoxy flooring systems are designed to handle everyday use in garages and residential spaces. Once installed, they create a seamless surface that resists stains, chemicals, and wear while delivering the unique decorative look metallic epoxy floors are known for.
Is your polished concrete a good option for commercial spaces?
Yes. Our polished concrete flooring systems are a popular option for retail stores, showrooms, warehouses, and office spaces. They provide a clean, professional appearance while offering excellent durability and easy maintenance for high-traffic environments.
How soon can I use my epoxy floor after installation?
After our epoxy flooring installation, most floors can handle light foot traffic within 24 hours. For vehicles or heavier use, we typically recommend waiting 48–72 hours to allow the coating to properly cure and reach full strength.
